What it was meant to be
Daily French practice using apps, podcasts, and weekly conversation sessions with a tutor. Goal was to reach B2 fluency within 18 months so I could work in Montreal.
Where it stopped
early progress made
Studied daily for 8 months. Completed Duolingo tree, listened to French podcasts during commute, had weekly Zoom sessions with tutor. Could understand basic conversations and read simple articles.
Why it stopped
different opportunity
Got offered a great job in Seattle. The Montreal job fell through. Suddenly had no practical reason to continue. Without the deadline and goal, the daily practice felt pointless. Motivation disappeared.
